Divisional Commissioner Meets the Sarpanches of about a dozen villages for Sensitising Villagers

To give ‘Covid Mukt Pind’ campaign, a fillip, Patiala Division Commissioner Mr. Chander Gaind, met the Sarpanches of about a dozen villages of Sanour block, yesterday evening. Mr Gaind while conveying the message of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to the residents of the villages of Bosar Kalan and Jogipur of Sanaur block, urged the Sarpanchs of the Gram Panchayats of the area to get 100 percent coverage of vaccine to their all eligible population to avoid the contagion of Covid. Mr Chander Gaind was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Mr Kumar Amit and SDM Patiala Mr Charanjit Singh, Block Samiti Chairman Mr Ashwani Batta.
       Getting connect through video call, former Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Member of Parliament Mrs Preneet Kaur assured the people that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is doing everything possible to save the people from the pandemic.  Apart from this, a special plan is being worked out to help the poor, the needy and especially the labourers, in this hour of crisis.
       Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner further said that the people’s support was mandatory and important to win the Covid war and appealed to the villagers to take precautionary measures to save themselves from the scourge of Covid.  He also made aware the people of the misconceptions being spreaded by some miscreants about vaccination and Covid testing. Mr Gaind asked the sarpanches to use major tools such as masks, social distancing and frequent hand washing or sanitization to avoid Covid and make people aware of home isolation in case of contracting Covid infection and having mild symptoms.
        Mr Gaind further said that the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had launched a ‘Rural Mission Fateh’ to make the villages of Punjab, Covid free and announced a special grant of Rs. 10 lakh to each village who will achieve the target of 100 percent vaccination against Covid.  Apart from that, the Sarpanches also informed about the sanction given to them to spend Rs.5000 to Rs.50,000 for saving the villagers from the Covid.
       Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Mr Kumar Amit said that in view of the increasing mortality rate during the second wave, we must have aware of the seriousness of the disease and necessary precautions should be taken to avoid Covid infection by making them an integral part of one’s lifestyle and strict adherence to guidelines issued by the government and doctors. He said that the district administration was fully vigilant to keep the people safe from the pandemic.
       Welcoming Mr. Chander Gaind and Mr. Kumar Amit, Chairman Mr Ashwani Batta assured that they would sensitise the village panchayats of Sanour block to follow the instructions issued by the government and health department. Apart from BDPO Dharmapal Sharma, Jogipur Sarpanch Rajveer Singh,  Krishan Singh of Lalina, Tirath Singh of Bosar Kalan, Harwinder Singh of Poonia Jattan, Buta Singh of Noorkherian, Randeep Singh of Bolarh Kalan and Karamjit Singh of Kartarpur were also present.
