World University is Committed to the Spread of Sikh Tenets

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib is celebrating Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji with great piety and enthusiasm. Keeping in mind, the importance Guru Nanak laid on wisdom and knowledge, the University has set up a book exhibition in which books ranging from rare religious texts to motivational works and critical Sikh writings are being displayed. Dr Ajaib Singh Brar, Pro-Chancellor of the University said that through these book stalls the University wishes to inculcate a habit of reading amongst the students and also to show them how rich their culture and religion is. The exhibition received an overwhelming response from not only the students and faculty of the University but also from the outsiders as well. Talking about the University’s vision to mark the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji on such a huge scale, he said that the University is committed to spread the teachings of Guru Nanak among the youngsters, so that the young generation can be led to the path of righteousness and welfare of all.  

The University also organised various competitions for its students such as poster-making and slogan writing competition on the Life, teachings and travels of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, declamation contest on the topic “Relevance of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Teachings in present times” and Solo Shabad Gayan Competition. Dr. Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University congratulated the students and the faculty on the eve of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji and appreciated the efforts of the faculty and their enthusiasm for celebrating the birth anniversary of the Founder of Faith.  Dr. SS Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, Dr. Preet Kaur, Dean Students’ Welfare, and Head of the Departments were present on the occasion.

The winners of Poster Making were Varinder Singh (BTech CSE), Gurpreet Kaur (BA LLB), Sandeep Kaur (MSc Chemistry). In Slogan Writing, Pushpinder Kaur (MBA), Lovepreet Kaur (BBA) and Khushpreet Kaur (BA LLB), in Declamation contest, Simarjot Singh (BMS), Harmanjot Singh (MA ), Harsirjan Kaur (BSc Hons.) secured first, second and third positions respectively. In Solo Shabad Gayan competition Priya (MA Music) secured first position, Ishtpreet Kaur (BPT) second, and Sukhchain Singh (MA Music) and Simranjit Kaur (BSC Biotech) secured third position.
