Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Receives Sunny Oberoi Scholarship

S. Jassa Singh, National President, Sarbat Da Bhalla Charitable Trust and S. Balvinder Singh today visited Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib to hand over the cheque of the fee of the Students of the Diploma in Gatka, under the Sunny Oberoi Scholarship Scheme. The Diploma in Gatka is being run for the last four years in the Physical Education and Sports Technology Department of the university. The fee of this course for all students is paid by Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust run by Dr. SP Singh Oberoi.
S. Jassa Singh appreciated the discipline and rigorous training given to these students by the University. He applauded the management and administration of the University for their commitment to spread the tenets of Sikhism in the young generation. He also showed his delight over the world class infrastructure and the updated academic curriculum of the University.
Pro Chancellor of the University Prof. (Dr.) Ajaib Singh Brar thanked the trust for their continuous support to the University. He said the Gatka, the Sikh martial art, not only instils courage and confidence in the students but also connects them to the sikh philosophy of protecting the weak and the poor. He said that the mission of Sarbat da Bhalla trust and the University is similar as both the institutions are Charitable and are committed to provide affordable higher education to rural and poor sections of the society.
The Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh while receiving the cheque of five lakh ten thousand from S. Jassa Singh shared that during the last four years the Gatka team of the University has consistently won the first place in the Khalsa Games and the overall second place in the All India Inter University Gatka Championship. Apart from this, the University team has won many accolades. Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs also thanked the trust officials for the services rendered by Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust in the field of public welfare and education.
