SPORTS MINISTER PARGAT SINGH ENQUIRES AFTER WELL BEING OF INTERNATIONAL PUGILIST KAUR SINGH

Patiala, November 1: The Sports and Youth Affairs Minister S. Pargat Singh today visited a private hospital here at Badungar to enquire after the health of International Boxer Kaur Singh.
Notably, Kaur Singh has won Gold Medal for the country in the 1982 Asian Games besides another Gold at Asian Championship. The renowned boxer was also honored with Padma Shri, Arjuna Award, and Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) during the course of his playing career.
The Minister further said that the Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi is dutybound to extend every possible help to sporting icons like Kaur Singh.
Going down the memory lane, S. Pargat Singh also recalled the memories with Kaur Singh dating back to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He also interacted with the wife of Kaur Singh, Baljit Kaur and assured her that the Punjab Government stands shoulder to shoulder with the legendary players.
The Sports Minister also had a word with the Team of doctors attending upon Kaur Singh. The team comprising Dr. Harshavardhan Khurana, Dr. Inderjit Kaur and Dr. M.S. Ahluwalia was asked to devote full attention to ensuring good health to the great player. The minister specifically asked SP (City) S. Harpal Singh who himself is a veteran international player of boxing, to look after Kaur Singh.
