Seminar on Guru Nanak’s Contribution to Cultural Development

Fatehgarh Sahib, 29 November: Celebrating the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Department of Punjabi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a one-day seminar on ‘Role of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Cultural Development’. Presiding over the seminar, Dr. Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University deliberated on the need of eradication of social evils and the creation of fearless society in today’s world. He emphasised on the importance of Gurbani, which he said is the only source of liberation of human soul. 
The keynote speaker Dr. Gurpal Singh Sandhu, Professor, Panjab University, Chandigarh while focusing on the difference between the human and the social life, explains the importance of Guru Nanak’s philosophy in human life. He also highlighted the role of Guru Sahib in cultural development. The special speaker in the seminar, Dr. Sewak Singh, Sikh Scholar, spoke on the ideology of Guru Nanak Dev ji in the context of impending cultural changes. He also elaborated the principles of Nam and Shabad.
              Dr. SS Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, shared his views on the importance of kirtan in culture. He also congratulated the department for organising the seminar. At the end, Dr. Sikander Singh, Head, Department of Punjabi, presented the vote of thanks to all the participants.
