MP Preneet Kaur Kickstarts Construction of Rs 7 Crore Sports Complex at Rajpura

Former Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Member of Parliament from Patiala Mrs Preneet Kaur today laid the foundation stone of a new Sports Complex-cum-Stadium to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 7 Crore at Rajpura.
Terming this project as Independence Day Bonanza, she also announced approval of Rs 41 crore project of sewerage for the Rajpura. She added that with the approval of sever project, Rajpura residents have got the double bonanza, today.
Congratulating the Rajpura residents on 75th Independence Day, Mrs Preneet Kaur said that this sports stadium has been got approved by MLA Hardial Singh Kamboj from the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, especially to engage the youth of Rajpura in sports. She said that this state-of-the-art sports complex would be set up by the Punjab Sports Department in two phases in a record time.
The MP further said that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was pursuing a policy of promoting sports and sportspersons, for which the state government had formulated a new sports policy-2018 to provide better sports infrastructure to the sportspersons of the state. She said that under this, Punjab Government had given a cash prize of Rs. 28.36 crore to the Punjab athletes having got positions in the Tokyo Olympics and encouraged the youth to participate in the Games.
Mrs Preneet Kaur further said that the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had given Rs 2.51 crore for the bronze medal to the athletes for their outstanding performance in Tokyo Olympics. An amount of Rs.50 lakh has been given to the each player who has got positions and also Rs.21-21 lakh has been given to the players who have participated and the Chief Minister has promised to provide jobs to the players as per their eligibility.
Criticizing the Modi government, Mrs Preneet Kaur said that she and her party including Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had stood by the farmers firmly who were sitting on the borders of Delhi since November last year. Cautioning the people of Punjab of the deceptive propaganda and terrorism promoting activities of Pakistan, she said that the future of the Punjab was safe only in the hands of the Congress. She appealed them to not to trust on the allures being given by opposition parties.
MLA Mr Hardial Singh Kamboj specially thanked the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Member of Parliament Mrs Preneet Kaur, announced to dedicate this state-of-the-art sports complex to the winners of the Olympic Games. He said that this sports complex has a multipurpose hall for indoor sports, courts for sports like basketball, volleyball, badminton, handball, yoga etc., fitness center, and rooms for coaches, separate changing rooms for boys and girls and bathroom besides storeroom for sports equipment. Apart from this, a 400 meters athletics track, football ground, open gym, parking, sprinkling system, Flood lights for night will be provided. A special track for skating would be prepared by Charanjit Singh Namdhari at this complex. He said that with the completion of this sports complex, he hoped that one day a young Olympian from Rajpura would also win a medal in the Olympics/Asian games like gold medalist Neeraj Chopra.
Mr Hardial Singh Kamboj while briefing about the development works carried out at Rajpura in last 4 years said that in past 70 years there was no place for anyone to play Guli-Danda at Rajpura but Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has made Rajpura, a Gateway of Punjab, a model city. He said that he has given Rs 50 lakh at Banur Stadium. Similarly, both Railway over bridge and underpass at Rajpura have also been approved at a cost of Rs. 36 crore. In addition, work on the 250-acre Quark City at Chamaru, passed by Captain Amarinder Singh led Government in 2006, has resumed after 10 years. He said that Quark City and construction of the IT Park Sehra would provide employment to 1 lakh youth in Ghanour area of Rajpura.
