Mental health workshop held at Mohindra College

Patiala, 13 October: The department of Psychology, Govt. Mohindra College, under the guidance of principal of college Dr Simrat Kaur, orgapnised mental health talks to create mental health awareness among college students. A workshop was also organised on Understanding and Handling mental health issues in youth of Punjab . The workshop was conducted by Mr Amandeep Singh, who is working as a community Psychologist in the Department of humanities and social sciences , IIT Ropar.

While divulging details, Dr Gurpreet Kaur Sandhu, HOD, Deptt Of Psychology, told that the workshop addressed the community problems of drug abuse, suicide among farmers and alcohol abuse as well. The principal of college Dr Simrat Kaur gave certificates to students for best contributions in promoting mental health awareness by conducting mental talks and digital presentations.

The Head of the Department organized seminar on the theme “Mental health in an unequal world” and highlighted the need to ensure mental health care for everyone. The principal, Dr Simrat kaur also emphasized the need to look after mental health especially during the covid-19 pandemic and strengthen their mental health along with physical health.
