Guru Nanak’s Prakashpurab Celebrations at World University

Fatehgarh Sahib, 15 November: A week long celebrations of prakash purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji is going to start from today at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib. Various events, competitions and camps have been scheduled dedicated to Guru Sahib. The celebrations will be initiated with the inaugural of Medical camp organised by the Department of Physiotherapy. Doctors from various fields are giving free of cost consultation to the patients. The patients are advised to bring their previous reports.
Dr. Nirmal Bhasin (Gynae and Infertility Specialist), Dr. Abhinash Paul (Medicine & Pulmonology), Dr. Prabhleen Kaur (Dentist), Dr. Kulvinder Jauhar (ENT Specialist), Dr Pankajpreet Singh (Physiotherapy), Dr Supreet Bindra (Physiotherapy), Dr Ajay Kumar (Physiotherapy) and Dr Sartaz Singh (Homeopathy) will provide their services. The camp will be followed by cleanliness drive and solo shabad gayan competitions. While taking to media, Dr. Pritpal Singh, the Vice Chancellor of the University congratulated the entire Sikh community and all the followers of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
He showed his delight over the events organised by the University staff members and said that it is a matter of great pride that the University staff and Students follow the tenets laid in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. He informed that all the competitions have been organised with an aim to promote Sikhism and to instil humanistic values enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Dr. S S Billing, Dean Academic Affairs also congratulated and said that it is the need of the hour to guide the young generations to a righteous path and it is very important that the youngsters should seek guidance from the philosophy of the Sikh Gurus. He also congratulated Dr. Preet Kaur, Dean Students’ Welfare for organising the events.
Dr. Preet Kaur informed that the events will include Plantation drive, blood donation camp, seminar on Sri Guru Nanak’s contribution to Culture, Book Exhibition, religious painting exhibition, Gatka performance, Street play, and various competitions such as Declamation, poster making and slogan writing. On the last day, after the bhog of sehaj path , the University students will sing hymns from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, followed by the ardaas.
