During the special awareness program, 715 villages of Patiala District were covered and 12884 persons were made aware of Free Legal Aid

Patiala, 22 October: Ms. Parminder Kaur, CMJ/Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala informed that During the special awareness program total 715 villages have been covered and 12884 persons were made aware about Free Legal Aid, Permanent Lok Adalat(PUS), Toll-Free Number 1968, Legal Services App and advantages of the Mediation, about upcoming National Lok Adalat to be held on 11.12.2021 and regarding the benefits of Lok Adalat. They were also made aware of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” and Victim Compensation Schemes.

Apart from this, door to door campaign is also being done in villages during which total 168 villages were covered and 19900 persons were made aware about free legal aid. During these seminars, total 106 forms were filled regarding various schemes by Punjab Government Departments i.e. Old Age Pension, Financial Aid to Dependent Children, Widow Pension, Sponsorship Scheme and Smart Ration Card.

Free Legal Aid Camp

Ms Parminder Kaur also said that total 464 seminars/awareness programmes have been conducted during the period from 10^th to 16^th October, 2021 in various villages of the district with the collaboration of DFSC, Patiala, DCPO, Patiala, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Patiala, DPO Patiala and CDPO.

During this campaign, today seminars/awareness programmes were organized in villages Ahiru Khurd, Ahiru Kalan and Dhagroli in Block Bhunerheri by District Legal Services Authority, Patiala. During these programmes, people were made aware about free legal services by Sh. Charanvir Singh Advocate.

She told that as per the directions of NALSA, PAN India awareness and outreach programme is being celebrated from 2^nd October, 2021 to 14^th November, 2021 as a part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and to celebrate legal services week from 8^th November to 14^th November, 2021 as a part of this campaign.

Under the able guidance of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sh. Ajay Tewari, Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar-cum-Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court Chandigarh and under the supervision of Sh. Rajinder Aggarwal, Ld. District & Sessions Judge, Patiala, campaign will continue till 14^th November, 2021, she added.
