Deputy Commissioner Visits Development Work Sites

To ensure the holistic development of heritage city Patiala in time bound manner, Deputy Commissioner Mr Kumar Amit visited the development works sites and reviewed the progress of construction of these projects.
He said that the comprehensive development of the heritage city launched by the Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh and Member of Parliament, Mrs Preneet Kaur has been going on full swing and we are committed to complete the works in stipulated time.
Mr Kumar Amit took stock of the progress of construction of ultra-modern new bus stand, almost completed multilevel parking at Government Rajindra Hospital, setting up of water treatment plant as a part of 24×7 surface water supply besides shifting of dairies outside the city. He was accompanied by Commissioner MC, Mrs Punamdeep Kaur, Assistant Commissioner (Grievances) Kiran Sharma, Executive Engineer, PWD (B&R), Sohan Lal Garg, Executive Engineer, MC, Suresh Kumar and other officials.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the PWD officials to prepare for the inauguration of the newly constructed five storey car parking having capacity of 312 cars, at a cost of Rs. 11.13 crore for the vehicles of patients and their family members at Government Rajindra Hospital. He said that there are three more floors besides basement and ground floors, which have two lifts, ramps for vehicles and CCTV Cameras, solar panels etc. He said that the work of this parking lot has been completed and now it is being given final touches.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also inspected the Government Dental College where a 4 storeyed C-block building with ground floor has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 546.19 lakhs, which connects to A and B blocks. On the first floor, there is an operation theatre, examination hall, on the second floor, there is an auditorium with 184 seats.
Mr Kumar Amit asked the concerned authorities to expedite the work of canal based water supply project costing around Rs. 550 crore to ensure the provision of safe drinking water to the residents of the city. He said that as per the directions of the Chief Minister, a plan has been prepared to bring the adjoining colonies around the city under the purview of this scheme. He said that L&T Infrastructure Company, a world class company, would complete 60 percent of the canal water based water supply project by March, 2022.
Mr Kumar Amit also took stock of the ongoing construction work of Ultra-Modern New Bus Stand at Rajpura Road Bypass at a cost of Rs. 60.97 crore and the construction of a new 265 meter long flyover in front of it. Expressing satisfaction over the progress of the work, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officials of the PWD to ensure that the construction work of the bus stand was completed within the stipulated time. Executive Engineer SL Garg said the first phase would be completed by coming November.
The Deputy Commissioner then went to review the first phase of work of 134 plots on 22 acres of land at a cost of Rs. 10 crorr. He said that Biogas plant, STP, street light, tubewell and canal water supply, park, animal husbandry polyclinic, grills and fencing were being set up all over the place. He said that work for the second phase, worth Rs. 12 crore has already been started. He said that out of 134, about 84 dairy owners have started construction by depositing 5 percent of the total reserved price of the plot as per the conditions of the corporation. He said that after September 30, 2021, there would be no dairy in the city.
Mr Kumar Amit said that the progress report on all the development projects would be submitted to the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Lok Sabha Member Mrs Preneet Kaur and the district administration was ensuring timely completion of these projects as per the orders of the Chief Minister. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure timely completion of all the development projects.
