Interests of hospitals impaneled under SSBY to be safeguarded; OP Soni directs insurance companies to work in tandem with hospitals

Chandigarh, October 15:

Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna (SSBY), the health insurance scheme run by the Government is running successfully in the state and it’s ambit would be enlarged to cover additional 1.5 million families.

Disclosing this through press communique, Deputy Chief Minister cum Health Minister Punjab Mr. OP Soni said that this would result in extendending insurance benefit to those sections of the society who were earlier deprived of this scheme. Pertinantly, free treatment upto Rs. 5 lakh per annum is provided under this scheme.

After a meeting with Health Secretary, Joint Secretary Health, SHA officials, insurance company representatives and IMA representatives,

Mr. OP Soni said that taking a due notice of the news report published recently regarding the insurance company suspending the empanellment of a private hospital empanelled  under the Ayushman Bharat Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna, a special meeting was convened to resolve the issue . After much deliberation and discussion with the stakeholders, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the insurance company to revoke the suspension of the private empanelled hospitals which were suspended by the insurance company at its own level.

Mr. Soni assured the IMA that all the issues of the private hospitals will be resolved, their service interests would be safeguarded and further private hospitals will not face any difficulty at the hands of the insurance company.

He directed the insurance company to work in tandem with hospitals.

 He said that the focus of the government was on the education and the health sectors and major reforms have been made on these fronts.

          Mr. Soni said that private hospitals need to continue working with the same dedication and zeal as they had during the outbreak of  Covid19 pandemic.
