Divisional Commissioner Chander Gaind Visits Patran, Makes Aware Municipal Councillors and Village Sarpanches

To make the COVID Free Village Campaign, a success, Mr. Chander Gaind, Commissioner, Patiala Division visited Patran and met the President and Vice President of  Patran Municipal Council and the Sarpanches of the most populous villages of Shutrana, Patran and apprised them of grim situation of COVID.  On this occasion, Mr. Gaind also conveyed the message of Mrs. Preneet Kaur, MP from Patiala to the Sarpanchs to be vigilant to save their families and villages. SDM Patiala, Charanjit Singh, SDM Patran,  Dr.  Palika Arora, DSP  Bharpur Singh and SMO  Dr.  Rajesh Kumar and other officials were also present.
      Conversations with village sarpanches, meanwhile, revealed that people in the villages were still showing hesitance in getting vaccinated against COVID and have some misconceptions, on which Mr. Chander Gaind apprised them of the enormity  of the COVID pandemic.  He said that people who were spreading misconceptions about COVID vaccine are the biggest enemies of society and humanity,  so we must beware of such people.
       Divisional Commissioner said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the Punjab Government and the Health Department were making all out arrangements for the care and treatment of the patients suffering from CORONAVIRUS infection including COVID vaccination.  We must come forward openly to get vaccinated to avoid contagion of this deadly virus, he asked then.
       He said that due to open to vaccination by urban people, the rate of COVID positive cases in the urban areas is now declining whereas the people in the villages are still not getting vaccinated due to misconceptions about COVID and are not taking precautions. He directed the SDM to make the people more aware by sending teams along with the experts of the health department to the villages.
 “Medical experts fear that the third wave of COVID will be more frightening and affect children, for which the most essential weapon to win the battle against COVID is to wear a mask, wash/sanitize hands regularly, besides maintaining a distance of minimum six feet,” said Chander Gaind.  He also insisted upon maximum coverage of vaccine to save the people from the scourge of pandemic.
      He further said that people should follow the instructions given by the doctors, health department and the government and not get involved in any rumors about COVID.  Mr. Gaind said that the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had also announced a special grant of Rs. 10 lakh to the Gram Panchayats who would achieve the target of 100 percent immunization under the Rural Mission Fateh and also the Sarpanches have been allowed to spend Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000   in their villages to protect the villagers from COVID.
