SGGS World University Organises “Entrepreneurship Awareness Program”

The Innovation Cell, Center for Scientific Research and Innovation (CSRI-SGGSWU) in association with Start-up Punjab organized an Entrepreneurship awareness program. The program was planned to make the students aware of the opportunities available in the country for the establishment of start-ups and to make them familiar with Entrepreneurship, Government policies, and initiatives.
Dr. Simranpreet Kaur, Scientist PMC cell, Punjab Biotech Incubator was the Chief guest of the program. She enlightened the students on the State Government initiatives in the Biotechnology sector. Students were made aware of the facilities provided by the Punjab govt. for the promotion of Biotechnology.
Dr. Arvind Dhingra, Executive Director, STEP-GNDEC, delivered a talk on “Perk and Perils of Entrepreneurship”. He made the students aware of the funding schemes available through the center and state government for entrepreneurship. The talk emphasized the perks of being an entrepreneur.
Two entrepreneurs, Dr. Balbir Kumar and Er. Hamir Singh Mann also graced the occasion. Dr. Balbir Kumar, Founder of Simar Biotech Pvt. Ltd., started his own venture in 2014. He briefed the students on all the certificates and approvals required to start one’s own production venture. Mr. Hamir Mann, Director Vanntech Farm Pvt. Ltd. And Flying Leader Pvt. Ltd. is a Batch 2012 (B.Tech CSE) alumni of the University. He motivated the students by sharing his start-up journey and encouraged on pursuing the entrepreneurship path. He thanked the faculty members of the University for shaping his career to a bright future.
Around 100 participants of various Departments of the University including, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Zoology actively participated in the program. Inaugurating the workshop the Pro-Chancellor of the University Dr. Ajaib Singh Brar, congralulated the innovation cell for organizing this program and emphasized the need for such workshops regualrly. Welcoming the resource persons, Dr. C. Rajesh, Chairperson CSRI-SGGSWU promised to hold such sessions regularly for the students who could not register for this event due to the upper student limit for effective interactive sesion. Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. S. S. Bal presided over the session. The organizing committee expressed their gratitude to the honourable Pro-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) A.S. Brar and Honourable Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh for their support in successful conduct of the program.
