23cm Tumor Weighing 16.8kg was Removed From the Stomach of a 55-year-old Woman

India (Rajasthan): A team of doctors has successfully removed a 23 cm tumor weighing 16.8 kg from a 55-year-old woman. The tumor was eight times larger than a normal tumor. The operation lasted for at least four hours.
A rare operation has been done, by the Department of Surgical Oncology, Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital, and Research Centre. When the patient came to the hospital, her condition was worse. She had difficulty walking and breathing, so doctors instantly decided to remove the tumor from her stomach.
After four hours of sophisticated surgery, doctors successfully removed a 23 cm tumor weighing 16.8 kg. According to the doctors, it was very difficult to operate the tumor due to its size and weight. However, they removed the tumor after four hours.
Dr. Sanjeev Patni, Director & HOD, Department of Surgical Oncology, said that the size of the tumor to be operated on is usually 2 to 8 cm. Due to ignorance of the tumor in the ovary, it started growing inside the stomach & the tumor grew as much as 23 cm in size.
The surgery was performed by the team of Dr. Prashant Sharma and Dr. Pushplata Gupta, and Dr. Sanjeev Patni.
