A national webinar was conducted on the topic related to the life, teachings and martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji by the Department of History, Punjabi University, Patiala
Dr. Mohammad Idris, HoD, while delivering the welcome address said that this webinar was being organized as part of a series of academic events launched by the Punjab government dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. Dr. B. S. Ghumman,Vice Chancellor, inaugurating the webinar, said that every country in the world which has given importance to unity in diversity has made great strides.

He said that Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib’s teachings and contribution in inculcating a culture of respect for diversity in our country can never be forgotten. He said that there is no other example such as Guru Sahib’s unique martyrdom. His teachings show the righteous way of life to the whole of the universe and the entire humanity . He said that although the issue of human rights has started to be discussed in the modern age but Guru Sahib at that time gave his unique martyrdom for the protection of the human rights of every person to have freedom of religion.

Dr. Balwant Singh Dhillon, Guru Nanak Dev University, delivering the keynote address, elaborated on the theme of webinar. He made important remarks about the life of Guru Sahib and his martyrdom with historical references. The guest of honor on the occasion was Dr. Paramvir Singh, Head of Encyclopedia Department, PUP, who also shared his valuable views with the participants. Dr. Jigar Mohammad, Professor, Jammu University, Jammu delivered the veledictory address. The webinar was coordinated by Dr. Sandeep Kaur.
