Department of Planning Punjab and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) would announce the winners of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Action Awards in a virtual function slated to be held on September 28th.
Divulging the details a spokesperson of the Punjab government said that Department of Planning Punjab and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) would be organizing SDG Action Awards Ceremony on September 28th, 2020 at 4 PM adding that the function will be virtual and streamed on Facebook Live and YouTube.
Chief Secretary Punjab Ms. Vini Mahajan, Resident Representative-AI, UNDP India Ms Nadia Rasheed and Principal Secretary Department of Planning Mr. Jaspal Singh will grace the occasion.
The SDG Action Awards will be given to the government departments, NGOs, individuals, academia, corporates, foundations, organizations who have contributed to or made efforts towards sustainable development in the state with exemplary initiatives for social, economic upliftment, environment sustainability, integration and approach of leaving no one behind.
The invitation for nominations was asked on first week of September 2020 and wide publicity through Print media, social media (Twitter, Facebook & Instagram), official communication was done. Department of Planning has received many nominations in different categories. These entries were then shortlisted by the SDGCC team based on the criteria of relevance to SDGs, impact of the initiative, effectiveness of the work done and the sustainability and scalability capacity of the initiatives.
