Commerce Fest Organized at Multani Mal Modi College

The Post-graduate Department of Commerce, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala organized a one-day Commerce fest to mark the recent changes in the field of commerce and business and to provide a platform to the students of the department to display their talents and potential. College alumnus Sh. Naveen Gupta, Assistant Vice-President, HDFC Bank Limited, Patiala was the chief guest at this event.

Inaugurating the program, Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar congratulated the Commerce Department and said that market-driven consumerism is leading to profit-driven life-values and mechanization of socio-economic living conditions which needs to be addressed and students needs to update their skills regularly.

Sh. Naveen Gupta, while addressing the students, appreciated the presentation of the displayed projects of the students and the communication skills of the students. He said that for success in the fields of commerce and business the integrity and credibility of the product is the most important factor.

The head of the Commerce Department, Prof. Neena Sareen while addressing the students told that the department is committed to enhance the skills, potential and abilities of our students so that they can compete in the competitive global markets of commerce and business.

A series of competitions were held during the fest including slogan writing, declamation contest, project demonstration, Singing Competition, selling tactics/Ad-Mad show. In ‘Slogan Writing’ Himanshi Kohli of M.Com.-2 stood first and Diya Kumari Gupta and Aditi of B.Com-3 bagged second and Harmanpreet Kaur BCom-1 Honours and Sejal From BCom-I Honours secured the third position. In the declamation contest, Nidhi of B.Com-3 and Nonidh of B.Com-1 stood first and Inderpreet of B.Com-1 bagged second position. In ‘Project Demonstration’ team of Nishtha, Harshit Kumar, Nitika and Gangadeep Kaur of B.Com-1(H) and second position was won by the team of Simran Dhillon, Aman, Mehak Kumari, Nishu Malhotra of B.com-3 and team of Satyam, Harshita, Vipul and Jaskaran from BCom-I and Gunakshi, Lakshmi, Sejal and Pavitra from BCom-II Honours secured third position. In ‘Singing Competition, Ravneet and Ravnoor of B.Com-2 (H) stood first while Shrishty of B.Com-3 was second and Himanshu of BCom-I stood third. In ‘Selling tactics/Ad-Mad show, a team of Nidhi, Shaifu Garg, Yash Chawla, Anshika, and Ishan Singla stood first and a team of Pooja Singla, Jyoti Taneja, Palak Goyal, and Manjot Kaur stood second position and a team of Harkirat Singh and Vanshpreet Kaur from BCom-2 stood third.

The stage was conducted by students Ritika Sood, Jyoti, Hanish Garg, Avleen Kaur, Avneet Kaur Bajwa, Gaurav Goyal. The prizes were given away by the Chief Guest, Principal, Prof. Neena Sareen, Prof. Parminder Kaur, Dr. Deepika Singla, and Dr. Amandeep Kaur. On this occasion, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Prof. Gaurav Gupta, and others were present.
