Punjab Minister for Forests, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Affairs, Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said that 45 state-of-the-art sports stadiums and grounds were being constructed in Patiala villages at a cost of Rs. 3.27 crore under ‘Mission Tandarust’ Punjab to keep the youth away from drugs.
He joined the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh in virtual inauguration of construction of 750 sports stadiums across the state through web conference on the occasion of 151st birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot formally dedicated such sports stadiums that were completed recently in 9 villages of all the blocks of the district to the youth. He also handed over four medical ambulances provided by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEE) to the Civil Surgeon Dr. Harish Malhotra in the presence of DC Mr. Kumar Amit, during a Symbolic function held at District Administrative Complex, Patiala.
Mr. Dharamsot said that under the Mission Tandarust Punjab launched by the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, it was decided to construct sports grounds and stadiums in 5 villages per block to promote sports in the state. Under this Rs.12 lakh would be spent on one acre sports stadium and Rs.24 lakh for 4 acre stadium in the land provided by Gram Panchayats where Kabaddi, Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Badminton, Open Gym, Athletics track etc. will be provided.
Mr. Dharamsot said that this gift has been given by the Punjab government to Patiala district on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. In the second phase, nine more playgrounds would be dedicated to the youth in the next few days bybthe district authorities, he added.
The Cabinet Minister said that with the enthusiasm shown by the youth of Punjab, he hoped that the youth would not only stay healthy but would also shine the name of Punjab at the national and international level in the field of sports. Praising Zee Entertainment (ZEE) for providing 4 ambulances to the health department in view of COVID-19 under CSR campaign, Mr. Dharamsot said that this would further help the health department in providing better health services to the people.
Interacting with media persons on the occasion, Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said that by rejecting the three anti-farmer laws framed by the Modi government at the Center, the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh would do its duty to protect the rights of the farmers of the state.
Mr. Dharamsot while recalling the former Prime Minister late Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastri whose birth anniversary also happens today, said that the Congress Party has always upheld the slogan of ‘Jai Kisan, Jai Jawan’ since the independence of the country. The CM Captain Amarinder Singh with former Congress President Sh. Rahul Gandhi will join tractor rallies in the coming days, which will give impetus to the farmers’ movement.
Mr. Dharamsot termed the Akali Dal’s talk of farmers’ rights as a political ploy and said that earlier these people used to speak in favor of Modi out of love for the chair but now when they saw the opposition of the people they turned away. All are well aware of the reality of the Akali leaders, he added.
